My name is Ulla Urszula Chowaniec (contact here) and I am a professor of literature, teaching several courses devoted to Jewish Women's Writing and Yiddish Literature in Translation at the Paideia Folkhögskola.
Autumn 2025 Yiddish Women's Writing COURSES:
The courses are designed to investigate—through the lens of literature—Jewish life and Jewish history in writings from the late 19th century through the 20th and 21st centuries. We trace the development of literature written by Jewish women writers as well as Jewish writers more broadly, in Yiddish, Hebrew, and other languages. All classes and texts are discussed using English translations. Here you can find the course structures, syllabi, and reading materials for the current course.
