The course of Yiddish Literature IN TRANSLATION offers 5 introductory lectures and discussions of 5 short Yiddish stories by Jewish authors. The course is designed as a taster of an immensely rich world of the 20th-century Yiddish literature. Each of the five meetings is dedicated to the different author, presenting the biography, works and the contributions of the writers to the popular culture as well as the contemporary cultural memory (film, art, music, exhibitions).After the introductory lecture one of the texts will be presented, analysed, and discussed in detail.
